Rooted in Terracotta: The Story Behind Our Name
Written by Maitri — 4 min read
A brand’s name is its calling card, but it is also its anchor. When we were naming Evacotta, we wanted a word that felt organic, warm, and deeply connected to our core beliefs. We found our answer in the combination of two classical roots: Eva and Cotta.
Eva: The Spark of Life
Eva represents life, breath, and creativity. It stands for the nurturing energy that transforms a physical space into a home. In our philosophy, Eva represents the human element—the spark of intention that the maker puts into the craft, and the warmth that the owner feels when they welcome it into their life.
Cotta: Rooted in the Earth
Cotta is inspired by terracotta—literally “baked earth.” Terracotta is one of humanity’s oldest materials, used for thousands of years to create water pots, cooking vessels, and artistic sculptures. It represents:
- Tradition: An ancient medium that has connected humans across continents and eras.
- Craft: Formed by hand, dried in the sun, and baked in fire.
- Earthy Authenticity: The natural red-brown clay color that is simple, warm, and honest.
Evacotta: The Union of Life and Earth
Together, these two concepts form Evacotta—a lifestyle brand that celebrates the intersection of life and earth, creativity and craftsmanship.
